We are happy to hear from curious students of all ages and backgrounds about their interest in joining the lab. If you are excited about microbiology, evolution, biochemistry, and structural biology, please write to alexj[at]brandeis[dot]edu.

Since its founding in 1948, it has been in Brandeis' DNA to welcome students and faculty of all backgrounds and beliefs. We seek to continue this practice in our laboratory.

PhD students can join the lab through the Biochemistry and Biophysics or the Molecular and Cell Biology programs. The lab also considers students from the Chemistry and Physics programs at Brandeis. Research positions for Masters students in the Biochemistry and Biophysics, the Molecular and Cell Biology, and Biotechnology programs may also be available.

Postdoc candidates should email alexj[at]brandeis[dot]edu with a CV and short explanation of their interests.

Undergraduates interested in careers in science can email alexj[at]brandeis[dot]edu to inquire about open positions. We take interested students through BCHM 91g, summer fellowships, and QBReC.
